Access

At St John's we want to make sure that everyone feels welcome to apply to our college, and to Cambridge University.

I'm Alice, the Access officer on the St John's JCR, which is our college student committee. My aim is to encourage people from different backgrounds who wouldn't necessarily think to apply to Cambridge to consider it as an option, and to help make the admissions process as simple as possible. I will happily answer any questions I can about student life and the admissions process!

I'm also here to liaise between current students and the Development Office, to communicate any ideas about how to improve access schemes and the admissions process, and to encourage students to get involved in current access schemes.

Current St John's students can get involved:

- during the interview period, chatting to candidates, encouraging them and making sure they know where they're going and what's going on

- as part of the shadowing scheme, a Cambridge-wide project where sixth-form students have the chance to spend a few days staying in Cambridge shadowing a current student, and finding out what it is really like to study here

- by helping out with Open Days and school visits: showing prospective students round and talking to them about student life here

If you're interested in doing any of these things or have any ideas for access, please do join the facebook group, email me on am829@cam.ac.uk, or just chat to me if you see me around college.
