Facilities & Services
// College Catering // Library
As providing you the best college living experience to its students is a cornerstone of SJC//JCR's mission, there are two officers committed to the cause. The facilities and services provided for you are there to make sure you have everything you need in order to work, live and play, in as hassle free and enjoyable a manner as possible while here at St John's.
Facilities:
The Facilities Officer is the connecting link between you and your needs, and the college and their wants. Facilities are all those things provided for you, by College, such as Hall, Buttery, Laundry, Gym and Library. Sitting on committees that are in control of various facilities provided by college, and with working relationships with the departments in charge of these facilities, they have the ability to make sure your views are taken into account whilst these authoratative bodies make decisions and to instigate discussions about the changes that you, the student body, want to happen.
Please get in touch with your current JCR Facilities Officer, Emily Bailey by email with any suggestions/ideas/improvements you may have!
For prospective students, the College has some information on these here.
Services:
Services, meanwhile, covers all those things that are provided for you by the JCRC. These include the JCR (encompassing the sofas/dartboard/coffee+tea/sky etc), Trolleys, Magazines, Bikes and Sports Rackets. By constantly keeping an eye on each of these and listening to your comments/complaints and suggestions/ideas, the JCR Services Officer can ensure that the JCRC are providing everything College is not currently providing that you need to make life that little bit more easy/fun.
This year your JCR Services Officer is Holly Samuel, a first year modern linguist, who has plenty of plans and ideas to get her going but is always keen to hear your suggestions. Get contributing!
If you think of anything you'd like to see in the actual JCR (anything to make it a more tempting place to hang out/if there's a lack of cups etc.) or if you find any problems with the other services like bikes or trolleys (they're missing/they don't work) don't hesitate to contact her.
You can get in touch in two ways - either pop her a note in her pigeon hole at the front plodge, (J.H.SAMUEL), or drop her an email at jhs56@cam.ac.uk.
It's your JCR, help me make it work for you
