Peer Support // Welfare @ What's On?
Hey all, I'm Mike, your friendly JCR Welfare officer and it's my job to make you happy. I'm available for completely confidential one on one support so if you want to talk about anything just call or email me. I also give out free pregnancy tests and condoms and can drop them off anonymously. Finally, if you've got a specific problem I can refer you to the right person to help you out.

Other useful people in college include:
Peer Support - Peer Support is a group of students trained to listen and help you with any problems you might have. They're friendly and approachable. You can find them on Facebook or on the Peer Support page on the JCR website.
Chaplain - Whether you're in need of spiritual guidance or just fancy a chat, Grant is there to listen. He can be found at D2 Third Court and called on 01223 (3)38617.
College Nurse- Maggie can be found in B2 North Court and contacted directly on (01223) 338664. She will give completely confidential advice and support, and knows the college better than pretty much anyone!
During Full Term, the Health Centre is open Monday to Friday from 08.30-10.00, 11.30-12.30, and 16.00-18.00 on Wednesdays. No appointment is necessary. For opening terms outside of full term and further information, please refer to http://www.joh.cam.ac.uk/college_life/health/.
Tutor - Your tutor is the person in charge of your pastoral care. They provide advice on personal issues that may affect your studies and health. Don't be afraid of getting in touch, they can be really useful! They also give useful information on grants and bursaries if you're having money worries.
DoS - Your DoS is there primarily to deal with any academic problems you might have. If you are ill and can't write your essay, or are unable to go to lectures, it is a good idea to inform your DoS so that they can take the necessary steps. If you are worried about any aspect of your course, they are the best port of call.

CUSU Student Support - The CUSU team includes three trained counsellors.
Amiya, who was our welfare officer at John's two years ago, can be contacted by emailing welfare@cusu.cam.ac.uk. She is there to help with any problems you may be having and has full counselling training.
Natalie, who is the CUSU women's officer, can be contacted by emailing womens@cusu.cam.ac.uk. She is there to help with any problems that women in Cambridge face, whether or not they are related to gender.
Sam, who is the CUSU Education officer, can be contacted by emailing education@cusu.cam.ac.uk. He is there to help with any problems you may be having with workload or your subject more generally.
One of these three will always be at the other end of the CUSU student support phone between 9am and 7pm every day. The number for that is 07999859940.
Linkline -(01223) 367575 or (01223) (7)44444 - Linkline is a student run phoneline for those experiencing any emotional dificulties. Phones are manned from 7pm every night right through to 8pm the next morning during term time. Linkline will always call callers back or accept reverse charges if asked. If students do not wish to make a call, they are also free to drop into the Linkline centre, located at 17 St. Edward's Passage.
University Counselling Service - www.counselling.cam.ac.uk - The University Counselling Service is a professionally run organisation, offering advice on a wide variety of problems. They can also provide referral information. All conversations are strictly confidential. You can also e-mail the University Counselling Service - reception@counselling.cam.ac.uk - or call them - (01223)(3)32865 - in times of emergency. To arrange an appointment, see the website or drop in to 13/14 Trumpington Street and pick up a form. The centre is open from 9am-5pm on Mondays and Fridays, and from 9am-7.30pm on Tuesdays, Wedsnesdays and Thursdays.
