Miss Jolien Veldwijk will talk about her active involvement in projects in
Afghanistan and the Congo which
encourage peace-building processes and strengthen the position of women in
these countries.
Details about Jolien:
She completed a Master of Science Programme Conflict Resolution and
Governance at the International
School of Humanities and Social Sciences in Amsterdam. Her studies focused
on the empowerment of
women within the framework of (post-war)reconstruction. In particular she
conducted research in Kabul,
Afghanistan with Self Help Groups for Women. She now works for from
Concordis International who work
with individuals and groups in conflict situations to build relationships
across conflict boundaries. Her goal
is to continue being an influence on peace-building processes, hopefully
with the possibility to strengthen
the position of women within this context.
