Performance: Record the world as you see it.

Forget everything you ever thought about genre and medium, in this original workshop on film, artistic production, spoken word and drama. Former-screenwriter and performance academic Clare Foster will lead experiments with everything from cinematic poems to sketch comedy, looking at how the ways in which we see and record the world around us can interact and merge into revolutionary new formats. Phoebe Power will explore ways of writing for performance, looking at the use of the voice, the sounds of poetry and the rhythms of rap and slam. Actors, writers, film-makers and artists are all invited to come together and play with creation as we know it.

Sunday 24th February, 1pm-3-pm, Judith E. Wilson Studio (English Faculty)

PLACES ARE LIMITED so email to book

ecm selection – Recruitment clinic for founders and graduates

When bootstrapping as an entrepreneur, recruiting talent is often a significant challenge. Without the guarantee of job security and a visible ‘career ladder’, how does a startup attract the best of the best? On the other hand, how can young graduates understand the psychology of the recruitment managers, best present themselves to potential employers, and improve their chances of career success?

On 25th February, CUTEC is proudly co-hosting a workshop with a high-tech recruitment expert, ecm, on the recruitment strategy of technology businesses. This workshop will be catered to both graduates who are looking to make use of their specialist qualifications within high technology companies, as well as startup founders who wish to appeal to smart and driven individuals and grow their teams.

Time: 6:30pm – 8:30pm (Registration starting at 6pm)

Angels in America: The Great Work Begins – SUBMISSIONS WANTED!

‘Angels in America – Part 1: Millenium Approaches’ is the Week 6 Mainshow at the ADC. A show that tackles such dynamic themes as AIDS, liberalism, race and sexual identity, we are not only putting on a show: we have created a platform to raise awareness of such issues and explore the overtly political nature of the show.

In light of this, throughout the show’s run (26th Feb – 2nd Mar) we will be displaying art, poetry and other work in the ADC Bar and holding events after each performance in the Larkum Studio to turn this show week into the cultural event of the term.

We are calling for students to offer their creative input in any medium they would like (whether it is in fine art, poetry, music, dance, writing, photography… the possibilities are endless and we would love to hear from anyone and everyone) or to suggest themes for debate, for talks or for question and answer sessions. We are particularly interested in pieces focussing on AIDS awareness and sexual identity.

Please send all submissions to Bella on brl28 by Friday 22nd Feb. If you would also be interested in being involved in reading sessions or a music evening please also include this in your email.

I’m collecting data through a survey for my Psychology dissertation. My

research is on judgement and decision-making, and the survey involves some

estimation questions and a simple cognitive task.

It takes about 5 minutes, and I’d be extremely grateful if you could

complete it as I’m trying to get as many responses as possible. It is

completely anonymous.
